Jennifer Heiner-Pisano is the retail director of a company that designs high-end performance apparel for athletes of all ability levels. In her free time, Jennifer Heiner-Pisano enjoys running. She has completed six marathons, and belongs to the New York Road Runners.

Based in New York City, the New York Road Runners (NYRR) is a nonprofit organization devoted to helping and inspiring people through running while also focusing on making an impact on the community. NYRR runners raise money for different causes, and in 2018 the organization raised $45 million for charity.

While NYRR offers a free source of information for any interested runner, the organization also offers memberships starting at $25. Members receive many benefits, including access to community events, up to 45 percent off of race entry fees, guaranteed eligibility for the New York City Marathon, advance registration for NYRR events, and group training discounts.

The NYRR also relies on volunteers to assist with events. Like members, volunteers benefit from a variety of perks, such as front-row seats at races, connection with the running community, and a rewards program that earns points toward a guaranteed entry into the New York City Marathon.
