Bischoffs is Back!
Jennifer Heiner is a sports lover, distance runner, and a sales specialist. A lifelong resident of Teaneck, New Jersey, Jennifer Heiner loves how close Bergen County is to New York City, and the amazing array of culture and cuisine that this area of the state has to offer. Since earning her bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University in 2006, Jennifer Heiner has divided her time between working at a running company in New Jersey and volunteering with various animal rescue groups.
An avid runner herself, she has completed six marathons and several shorter events. At other times, Jennifer Heiner spends time trying new restaurants, attending Broadway shows, and staying home playing with her English bulldog. One of the most popular places in Bergen County, and Teaneck specifically, is Bischoff’s Ice Cream and Confectionary. Originally opened in the 1800’s in New York City, Bischoff’s moved to Cedar Lane in Teaneck in the 1930’s where is still stands today.
Sadly, due to the difficult state of the economy and rising costs throughout the supply chain, the 4th Generation owners of Bischoff’s decided to permanently close the beloved shop at the end of 2022.

The restaurant states that they have done more business over during the three weeks following their closure announcement then all of the summer combined. We as a society tend to take places like this for granted — they seemingly have stood the test of time, and assume they are always going to be there. Unfortunately time, and the economy, has caught up with Bischoffs.
Bischoff’s is one of those places that you go when you are celebrating something — Jennifer Heiner remembers countless times after a big swim meet, or field hockey game in middle school or high school. Two years ago, after breaking an ankle, this was the first place she wanted to go — for comfort. Jennifer Heiner most recently had another ankle surgery, and unfortunately Bischoff’s is no longer open, or else that would be the place to go for recovery.
These time-tattered establishments are becoming few and far between in today’s society, and we must treasure each and every one of them before they are gone forever.
However, on May 11th, Bischoffs’ social media accounts posted some exciting news. With some new partners and a new surge in investment, Bischoff’s is reopening for the summer!
They just launched a brand new website, looking for donations as well as a hiring page where they are calling for applications for a wide range of roles over the summer. If you are interested in helping out Bischoffs get back on its feet, check out this page today.
